Leather: You Love it Or You Hate it..

What do you associate leather with? Animals/unethical/cruelty/smell/expensive or High end fashion/glamour/eco-friendly/durable/genuine/style statement or you really don’t know what to believe in?
Leather has very obvious reasons to be loved, whether its the feel, the durability or simply the glam value added to it.
Often, use of leather has been a controversial topic, in terms of ethical practices being followed or not in its manufacturing. Mixing social issues like cruelty to animals, extinction of animals, environment pollution etc. with the use of leather would really be unfair without delving into the matter deeper.
A lot of misconceptions about leather have been created due to lack of information & just vaguely following generalized theories about leather. Like the common belief that animals are killed for leather (where as it is only a bi-product of the meat industry). But don’t they wonder that at a time when so many designers are jumping on the ethical bandwagon, a leather jacket is still one of this year’s ‘must-have’ items.
You can crib about the high price of leather products any day, but please don’t hate it for the wrong reasons at least. The Idea is not to force leather upon you, but to make sure you make an informed choice.
We are a group of leather designers who don’t exactly claim to be leather experts, but definitely know that there is a need to set the record straight when it comes to this high end material.
Thus this is an open platform where all leather enthusiasts can come and sum up the knowledge that they gather. You are free to comment or express about any issue and put all kinds of queries across.
You can challenge a theory, or create a new mind set, just to start, to take this initiative to a greater level...
